Instead of destroying the sanctity of marriage, the country’s lawmakers should support and promote marriage. This was the appeal made by the Catholic lay group Couples for Christ (CFC).

“We have no need for a bill that dissolves unions,” the CFC said in a statement.
“What we need are legislations that promote marriage and family life. What we desire are legislations that strengthen the solidarity of family and actively promote its total development,” the group added.
The CFC issued the statement amid the renewed push to legalize divorce in the country.
The Catholic lay organization has asked lawmakers to help save the marriage of couples in unhealthy state.
“What we need from society and the State right now is support to enable couples to have a fighting chance to save marriages that are not in their healthiest state,” said the CFC.
