YES, MARY WAS IMMACULATE pt3: A RESPONSE TO INC MINISTER

By: Pastor Manny
.
In part 2, inexplain ko ang Tradition behind the dogma [2]. Pagkatapos banggitin ang evidence from the Bible and Tradition, pupunta naman tayo sa logical argument for the Immaculate Conception. He said:
.
“It follows from this line of argument that for Mary to be sinless like Christ Jesus, SHE must have a SINLESS MOTHER and for her mother to be sinless, she must have a SINLESS GRANDMOTHER, and so on and so forth, AD INFINITUM, or, BACKWARDS TO EVE. Is this not an absurd teaching? Thus, such dogma (Mary was born sinless) CONTRADICTS the very principle they uphold (their dogma of the “ORIGINAL SIN”) [3] [emphasis added].”
.
In this post, magbibigay ako ng dalawang arguments as seen below.
—————————————————–
ARGUMENT FROM FITTINGNESS
This is the first argument na ioffer ko, ang argument from fittingness. The Catechism of the Catholic Church said:
.
722 The Holy Spirit prepared Mary by his grace. It was FITTING that the MOTHER OF HIM in whom “the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily” should herself be “FULL OF GRACE.” She was, by sheer grace, CONCEIVED WITHOUT SIN as the most humble of creatures, the most capable of welcoming the inexpressible gift of the Almighty. It was quite correct for the angel Gabriel to greet her as the “DAUGHTER OF ZION”: “Rejoice.” It is the thanksgiving of the whole People of God, and thus of the Church, which Mary in her canticle lifts up to the Father in the Holy Spirit while carrying within her the eternal Son [4] [emphasis added].
.
So, paano natin magagamit as an argument?
.
Zechariah 2:10
10 Sing and REJOICE, O DAUGHTER OF ZION; for lo, I come and I will dwell in the MIDST OF YOU, says the Lord [emphasis added].
.
Alam din natin na sinabihan si Mary ni Angel Gabriel na “Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you (Luke 1:28).” Ang statement na “Hail, full of grace” ay pwedeng itranslate as “Rejoice, favored woman” at ang statement na “the Lord is with you” ay fulfillment ng dwelling ng Diyos “in the midst of you” going back sa Zechariah 2:10. Tim Staples, a Catholic apologist in Catholic Answers, said:
.
“We saw before that it was the SIN of Israel that PREVENTED GOD from dwelling “in the midst of” “the virgin daughter of Zion.” How FITTING for the New Covenant DAUGHTER OF ZION—in the midst of whom the Lord would dwell bodily—to be FREE FROM ALL SIN [5] [emphasis added].”

ARGUMENT FROM NECESSITY
In fact, we can even find sa Catechism of the Catholic Church the necessity of Immaculate Conception. The Catechism of the Catholic Church said:
.
“490 To become the MOTHER of the Savior, Mary “was enriched by God with gifts appropriate to such a role.” The angel Gabriel at the moment of the annunciation salutes her as “FULL OF GRACE”.133 In fact, in order for Mary to be able to give the free assent of her faith to the announcement of her vocation, it was NECESSARY that she be WHOLLY BORNE by God’s GRACE [6] [emphasis added].”
.
However, Jesus Christ is the Savior, and as such, He can’t be saved. Jesus Christ can’t be saved because He cannot ACTUALLY or POSSIBLY sin. If naconceive si Jesus sa isang sinful na nanay, at may ginawa ang Diyos sa act of conception, it means na kung hindi ginawa yun ng Diyos, magkakaroon ng fallen human nature si Jesus Christ kung saan magkakaroon Siya ng possibility of sinning. As such, given that the act of saving is inappropriate to be applied to the Savior, ang nag iisang option ay magkaroon ng sinless na mother si Jesus Christ kung saan makakatanggap ang ating Panginoon ng sinless human nature from Mary.
.
On the other hand, if may sinful parents si Mary, there is a possibility for her to receive a sinful human nature from her parents and commit a sin, and God SAVED her from the moment of conception. Dr. Leroy Huizenga, a Catholic theologian, said:
.
“The immaculate conception of MARY recognizes and affirms a distinction between Mary and Jesus. She’s not a superhuman or some sort of deity, but needs SANCTIFICATION because she was LIABLE to SIN in principle before conception; she is truly saved. CHRIST, however, is the SAVIOR, NOT one in need of being SAVED [7] [emphasis added].”
For more information sa argument from necessity, I recommend na tignan ang dati kong post tungkol sa Immaculate Conception [8]. At the same time, I recommend the article by Dr. Leroy Huizenga for more in-depth discussion about the necessity of the Immaculate Conception [7].
—————————————————–
Just to give a summary, pwede natin sabihin sa ministro at sa ibang hindi mga Katoliko na fitting para kay Mary ang ipanganak ng walang stains ng original sin dahil sa pagiging “Daughter of Zion.” Makikita rin ang fittingness ng Immaculate Conception sa title ni Mary bilang “Ark of the New Covenant”, “New Earth” at “New Eve.”
