The Eucharist from the Greek noun “eucharistia” meaning “Thanks giving or Giving Thanks”.

“And when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me” (1 Corinthians 11:24).

At the celebration of the Mass, the Holy Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life, it is very important, for us Catholics to celebrate the sacrament why? Because the celebration of this Holy Sacrament we profess our Faith we come all together to thank God for all the blessings that we received in our daily lives.

1. Is the Eucharist is the real body and blood of Jesus Christ?

Yes, the Eucharist is the real body and blood of Jesus Christ he is really present in the Eucharist because Jesus said ‘This is my body’, not a symbol of my Body it is literally not symbolic. The scripture says also in the book of (John 6:55). “For My flesh is true and genuine food, and my blood is true and genuine drink.”

2. Why do you worship the wafer?

The Eucharist is a consecrated wafer and becomes the True body and blood of Jesus Christ, it is not a mere bread, wafer etc. Therefore Catholics are not worshipping the wafer rather we worship Jesus Christ. As Jesus states repeatedly in John 6:54 “Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood have eternal life” He is speaking literally in this passage.

Who can receive the Eucharist?

You can receive the Eucharist at least once a day, but remember to make sure that you are in the State of Grace, only those people who are in the state of Grace has the right to receive the Holy Eucharist. If you are in a state of Mortal it is better for you to go to Confession before receiving the Blessed Sacrament which is the Holy Eucharist the Bible tells us: “Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty concerning the body and blood of the Lord. Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment on himself.” (1 Corinthians 11:27-29)

If the Eucharist is not the real body and blood of Jesus Christ and it is only symbolic according to some Anti-Catholic. Then why we Catholics are forbidden to receive the communion when we are in a state of Mortal sin?
